LWBE PTA is excited to offer a fun new math opportunity this January. Math Pentathlon is a National Program consisting of interactive problem‐solving games and activities. Math principles are incorporated into fun board games designed to enhance problem solving, computational, geometric/spatial, and logical reasoning skills. Teamwork, good sportsmanship, sharing ideas, and communication skills are also stressed.
Our goal is eventually to have multiple groups divided by grade, but we will be starting with Division I games with our youngest students. For our first session, a maximum of 24 participants will be accepted from grades K-2nd. To supplement program costs, we ask that each student pay a nominal $50 club fee.
Registration will now open Monday, January 15th at 9:00 AM and close on Wednesday, January 17th at midnight. First session is from January 23rd through February 27th on Tuesday afternoons from 3:00-4:15 PM in Room 111 (Mrs. Kwiecienski's class) for 6 weeks. Please go to the link here for registration. A total of 24 spots is available for the first session, so please register quickly if interested. Another session will be available later this spring.
Math Pentathlon is led by parent volunteers. We need additional parent leaders and helpers to continue this program. We will teach volunteers how to play the games which are simple and fun, but eventually allow for a lot of strategy! All parents are required to assist with one after‐school session or provide snacks. If you would like more information, please first visit www.mathpentath.org.
